Established in 2013, Mingardo was founded by Italian welder Daniele Mingardo in a move that saw the young entrepreneur unite his passion for centuries-old craftsmanship with his respect for quality design. As a budding young designer, Daniele worked in his father’s carpentry workshop from age 18 and helped transform the 40-year-old family company into the creative design laboratory that he now heads.
Crafting top-quality furniture and accessories, each product in the collection is hand-wrought by Daniele and his highly skilled team using traditional production methods, with copper, iron and brass used as the basis for each piece, accompanied by materials such as wood and glass.
The handmade knot began its subtle influence on Olivia when she was studying Textile Design at the International Institute of Design in Milan. She began making hand knotted cotton necklaces as a side project and here began her fascination in making something by hand. She appreciated the beauty formed through the irregular action of making a knot, the time that goes into practicing a craft, as well as the practical understanding of what happens to a natural raw fibre when it is twisted and woven. After time in India learning the technicalities of weaving, Nodi was born.
Baldwin & Bagnall have teamed up with Nodi to create a new collection of hand-made rugs due for release in 2017.
